Allie E.S. Wist is an artist, writer and PhD candidate in the interdisciplinary Arts program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her research spans sensory futures, food, taste, smell, toxicity, anthro-geology and the postindustrial Anthropocene, focusing on challenging the perceived binary between the human and the ‘natural.’ Her work includes edible and olfactory artifacts, as well as photography and video, which often come together in multi-modal installation works or immersive dinners.

She has an MA in Food Studies from New York University, where she is currently an adjunct faculty member teaching courses on food, art and ecology. She spent over a decade as a photo director for food media in New York, most recently at Bon Appétit.

Her work has been shown by Honolulu Biennial, The Wellcome Collection, MIT and the Nobel Prize Museum, and it has been covered by the BBC, NPR and The New York Times. She is the co-author of A Ritual in X Movements (Montez Press) and an essay on her Climate LARPing series will be published in the forthcoming anthology Unserious Ecocriticism: Humor, Play & Environmental Destruction in Art & Visual Culture (Amherst College Press).
