For the past nine years, the former Lee Paper Company mill in Vicksburg has become a 416,000-square-foot canvas for creative exploration. Through the Prairie Ronde Artist Residency, we host 12 artists annually for five to six weeks to live, experiment and build upon our community’s rich arts history. The 80-acre property has now welcomed over 150 international artists whose works directly reflect the mill’s history.
From wall-sized projections exploring climate change to handmade lightboxes honoring traditional Vietnamese papermaking, our residents leave behind creative “Easter eggs” across the grounds before future redevelopment begins.
Recognized with the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo County Ethic Award for creating community through interesting arts and culture programming, Prairie Ronde continues to grow organically into a substantial arts program.
